Welcome to my blog!
I am Angelos Konstantinidis, an educational advisor specializing in online learning at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. I hold a PhD in teacher identity development, complemented by master’s degrees in digital education and creative learning.
In my first year at the University of Groningen, I played a pivotal role in the design of our institution’s online learning environment. This initiative was groundbreaking at the time, and I conducted comprehensive desk research to identify universal templates used by universities around the world. My findings were published in a paper for the Knowledge Management & E-Learning Journal. In parallel, I have been involved in the collaborative project “FeedbackGO.” This project brings together several Dutch universities with the shared goal of empowering teachers and students to monitor learning progress through data collection from various sources. Our groundbreaking work has been published in the Journal of Learning Analytics.
Furthermore, I actively engage with teachers at the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the Faculty of Religion, Culture, and Society. My contributions encompass course redesign, integration of innovative teaching concepts, conducting educational research, and seeking funding opportunities for educational innovation. I am a passionate advocate for Open Educational Practices and the use of Open Educational Resources, and I proudly serve as a member of the University of Groningen’s Open Science program. I consistently plan and facilitate workshops for educators, focusing on subjects related to assessment and feedback practices. I also hold membership in the Board of Examiners for two programs at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, where I work tirelessly to elevate assessment practices.
In 2022-2023, I pioneered an open peer review process for the Education Festival’s poster session and presented my insights and challenges at the Open Science Conference 2023. Additionally, I am a key coordinator of the #ONING collaboration between the University of Groningen and Hanze University of Applied Sciences, where we aim to foster a community of educators dedicated to incorporating digital technologies in pedagogically meaningful ways into their teaching methods. Moreover, I actively contribute to the Active Learning Classrooms project, which is dedicated to creating dynamic, technology-enhanced learning environments. Furthermore, I am an essential member of the team responsible for the development of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) across various faculties. I have recently taken on the role of working group coordinator dedicated to enhancing student well-being within the learning environment.
In the past, I served as an associate teacher at the University of Nottingham’s Master of Arts in Digital Technologies for Language Teaching. Over a span of six years, I had been teaching two online courses, ‘Telecollaboration’ and ‘Research Methods,’ while also providing guidance and supervision to students during their dissertation projects. During this time, I also played a pivotal role in guiding and mentoring teachers as they embarked on their journeys within the eTwinning and Teachers4Europe programs. In 2012, in collaboration with fellow educators, I co-founded an initiative called ‘ICT4ALL.’ This initiative had a three-fold mission: to support teachers in cultivating digital competencies for lifelong learning, to empower them with the knowledge and skills needed to integrate digital technologies into their daily teaching practices, and to advocate for the openness of educational practices. In 2016 the ICT4ALL initiative was accredited as one of the best practices in Open Education by the Open Education Europa.
I am a MirandaNet fellow and actively contribute as a reviewer for academic journals and conferences. My research interests span various domains, including online course design, alternative assessment practices, student feedback literacy, virtual exchange, and teacher training and identity development. My scholarly impact is evidenced by over 30 published articles in academic journals, conferences, and books.
In addition to my unwavering commitment to education, I am a devoted practitioner of Ashtanga yoga. I voluntarily share my passion for yoga by teaching weekly classes to a group of enthusiasts in Groningen. Our yoga community maintains an informative website, and our classes have garnered recognition, even being featured in the local university newspaper. Beyond education and yoga, I find solace in capturing the universe’s beauty through photography. My lens allows me to explore and appreciate the wonders of our world. I am also an avid traveler, constantly seeking new experiences and horizons.
